A NOTE ABOUT
This Landscape Analysis
“By examining official guidance, we gain a realistic perspective on how AI is actually being integrated into education—not just idealized visions. ”
This document reviews:
- Guidance issued by U.S. state education agencies through January 2025 and the U.S. Office of Educational Technology’s toolkit.
- Global guidance from 9 national and regional contexts.
- Six nonprofit organizations’ guidance documents.
Our hope is that future guidance developers will find these themes useful in organizing their work, identifying approaches worth considering, and raising questions worth answering.
This analysis does not prescribe a single approach. Instead, it identifies emerging patterns and strategies from education leaders worldwide. As AI evolves, so must our understanding of how best to integrate it into schools—ensuring that it serves educational goals while safeguarding students and educators alike.
